Tampa Police homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, leaving a young woman dead, and a young man with life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Police were called to Nicks Gyros at 3501 East Hillsborough Avenue at 3:30 a.m. on a report of a shooting.<\/p>\n
Police said a man approached the vehicle in the restaurant\u2019s parking lot and fired into the driver\u2019s side window, severely wounding Jynassis Ellis<\/strong>, 26. The driver, Malik Majied<\/strong>, 21, was also shot, but managed to drive one block to 34th Street and East Hillsborough where an off-duty officer was getting gas. He immediately began CPR on Ellis<\/strong>, and called for backup and an ambulance. Ellis<\/strong> was later pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n Majied<\/strong> was hospitalized and is reported to be in stable condition.<\/p>\n Detectives have determined the shooting was not a random act of violence, and they are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call (813) 231-6130.<\/p>\n The suspect is described as a Black male, 6 feet tall, wearing a baseball cap and a scarf around his face.<\/p>\n A source has reported that this shooting, and a shooting near 34th Street are connected to an incident that occurred at Ben T. Davis Beach a week ago.
