\u00a0\u00a0 Gentlemen\u2019s Quest, a community-based mentoring program for young men, just celebrated its 10th<\/sup> Anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, over 150 people including Hillsborough County Commissioner Gwen Myers<\/b> and Hillsborough County School Board member Nadia Combs<\/b>, attended an Awards Gala.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Since 2014, GQ has been instrumental in helping numerous students navigate high school and college life and achieve their academic goals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Twelve graduating seniors were honored with scholarships of $500 to full ride scholarships.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The organization\u2019s Executive Director and founder, Tavis Myrick<\/b> says that the gala supported academic accomplishments and the fact that the organization has had a zero % recidivism rate and 100% graduation rate for the 10th<\/sup> consecutive year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cAt Gentlemen\u2019s Quest, our mission is clear; to empower and support young men in becoming productive members of society,\u201d said Myrick<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThrough mentorship, guidance, and financial assistance, we strive to equip our students with the tools they need to succeed in college and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0 GQ Mother Juana Jackson<\/b> and her son, Jeremiah<\/b>, agree that GQ has been a godsend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Jeremiah<\/b> says, \u201cMr. Myrick <\/b>has been there for me through hard times, and I am so thankful for his leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Mrs. Jackson<\/b> states that she was inspired by the gala, saying that the \u201cspeakers really encouraged the young men.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tina Thomas<\/b>, mother of Hillsborough High School student Jalen Thomas<\/b>, certainly agrees with the success of GQ, saying, \u201cMy son has been a part of GQ for 2 years, and GQ has been a great inspiration.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThe impact that we have had in our community is immeasurable. We remain dedicated to uplifting our youth, and we will continue to serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity for generations to come,\u201d Myrick <\/b>said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
