{"id":13374,"date":"2012-03-15T15:24:53","date_gmt":"2012-03-15T19:24:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13374"},"modified":"2012-03-15T14:34:53","modified_gmt":"2012-03-15T18:34:53","slug":"dwight-howard-changes-course-again-im-staying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13374","title":{"rendered":"Dwight Howard Changes Course Again: I\u2019m Staying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The final hours until Thursday\u2019s 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline have disintegrated into complete chaos surrounding the future of Orlando Magic center <strong>Dwight Howard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After <strong>Howard<\/strong> repeatedly changed his mind Wednesday on whether to sign a waiver for his contract\u2019s early termination option for the 2012-13 season \u2013 he told Magic officials he would be back next season then told them later in the day he wouldn\u2019t commit to signing the waiver, allowing him to enter free agency on July 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Howard<\/strong> said he would sign the paperwork for the waiver to remain with the Magic through the 2012-13 season and forgo free agency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Howard<\/strong> initially asked the Magic to trade him before the start of the season. \u201cMan, listen, you know my heart, my soul and everything I have is in Orlando,\u201d <strong>Howard<\/strong> said. \u201cI just can\u2019t leave it behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Howard<\/strong> also said in the interview that he had received \u201cbad advice\u201d in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline. \u201cI apologize for this circus I have caused to the fans of our city,\u201d he said. \u201cThey didn\u2019t deserve none of this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several of <strong>Howard\u2019s<\/strong> advisers and other members of his inner circle were unaware of his change of heart Wednesday night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The final hours until Thursday\u2019s 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline have disintegrated into complete chaos surrounding the future of Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard.
