Former\u00a0President Obama\u00a0<\/a>slammed former\u00a0President Trump\u00a0<\/a>in a new podcast for not being considered a \u201cserious guy\u201d in New York City \u2014 where Trump spent most of his time before the White House, growing his fame and businesses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Obama\u00a0<\/a>was asked on the \u201cSmartLess\u201d podcast by co-host Jason Bateman whether he was surprised how quickly the \u201cprotection and passion for democracy was diluted\u201d\u00a0in recent years. Obama responded by noting the trend began during former President Clinton\u2019s time in the White House before accelerating during his presidency.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI have been surprised that there haven\u2019t been guardrails inside the Republican Party. Trump didn\u2019t surprise me,\u201d he said, before taking aim at Trump.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI mean, he comes from New York. There\u2019s nobody in New York who does business with him or lend him money. He\u2019s not considered a serious guy here,\u201d Obama added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
