NICHOLAS HARRISON, JR.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tampa Police officers arrested a 38-year-old Hispanic man who turned himself in as the suspect in a hit and run accident. At approximately 6:00 p.m., Nicholas Harrison, Jr.<\/strong> turned himself in at the Tampa Police \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 At approximately 3:57 a. m. Friday, April 19, 2024, officers began investigating a fatal vehicle vs moped accident.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The investigation revealed that the suspect was driving a 2007 Dodge Charger \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Upon their arrival, officers located the victim on scene, where he was later \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After turning himself in, Harrison<\/strong> was transported to Orient Road Jail and charged with one felony count of leaving the scene of a crash with death.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Tampa Police Department reminds the community to stay on scene when involved in a crash. \nand was traveling eastbound on E. Hillsborough Ave. The victim, a Black male, who was also traveling eastbound, was driving a moped. Both the defendant and victim were
\ntraveling in the inside lane when Harrison’s<\/strong> vehicle struck the rear of the
\nvictim’s moped. Harrison<\/strong> fled the scene and continued traveling eastbound on
\nE. Hillsborough Ave., with the moped lodged in the front bumper of his vehicle.
\nThe moped eventually dislodged and was located less than a mile away from the scene.<\/p>\n
\npronounced deceased. He has not been identified.<\/p>\n
\nespecially if the crash results in serious injury or death.<\/p>\n
