\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0Charlotte Hornets\u00a0have been granted permission to interview Lindsey Harding<\/strong>, the daughter of Tampa native, Lillian Andrews Ponquinette<\/strong>, and the coach of the G League\u2019s Stockton Kings. The Hornets are looking for a new head coach and want to speak with Harding<\/strong> for Charlotte\u2019s head-coaching job.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If the Hornets hire Harding<\/strong>, she would be the first woman to be named head coach of an\u00a0NBA\u00a0team.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Harding<\/strong>, a former Duke standout whose No. 10 jersey was retired by the program, was named the Naismith Player of the Year in 2007. She was first pick by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2007 WNBA Draft. Last year, she became the only woman head coach in either the NBA or G League when she\u00a0coached Sacramento\u2019s G League team.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Recently, Harding<\/strong> became the first woman to be named the NBA G League Coach of the Year after leading the Stockton Kings to a 24-10 regular-season record.<\/p>\n
