\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A 22-year-old Polk County man is facing an attempted murder charge of a deputy, along with a dozen other charges. The charges came about after the deputy responded to a call to have property returned to a woman.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 According to the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office, last Wednesday, the deputy responded to the intersection of Dr. M. L. King, Jr., Avenue and Canal Street, in Mulberry, around 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When the deputy arrived, he observed Jarret Frederick, Jr.,<\/strong> and a white woman, identified as a witness, walking down the street. After speaking with the woman, the deputy learned that the dispute centered around Frederick <\/strong>refusing to return her cell phone.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The deputy attempted to detain him, but he continued walking down the street. When the deputy walked up to Frederick, Frederick<\/strong> allegedly struck the deputy twice in the face. At that point, a physical altercation took place.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Frederick<\/strong> was able to get behind the deputy and placed his arm across the deputy\u2019s throat, and applied pressure. The deputy told Frederick<\/strong> that he couldn\u2019t breathe, but Frederick <\/strong>continued to apply pressure, police said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 As Frederick<\/strong> continued to prevent the deputy from using his radio, the deputy reached for his gun. Frederick<\/strong> is said to have immediately release the deputy and said, \u201cDon\u2019t shoot me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A second deputy arrived and Frederick<\/strong> allegedly continued to resist them as they attempted to handcuff him. Once Frederick<\/strong> was handcuffed, he reportedly slammed his body into the marked police car, causing a large dent.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Once in the police cruiser, Frederick <\/strong>reportedly told the second deputy to, \u201cTake the handcuffs off, or I’ll beat your p—y a–, you p—y a\u2014cra—er.”<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He is facing numerous charges including attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, depriving an officer of the use of his radio, criminal mischief, more than $1,000 and several other charges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
