{"id":13066,"date":"2012-02-27T17:00:14","date_gmt":"2012-02-27T22:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13066"},"modified":"2012-02-27T17:00:14","modified_gmt":"2012-02-27T22:00:14","slug":"sulphur-springs-murder-suspect-turns-self-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=13066","title":{"rendered":"Sulphur Springs Murder Suspect Turns Self In"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tampa Police report that on Wednesday, February 22nd between 4:45 p. m. and 5:19 p. m., <strong>Derrick Grady, Jr.<\/strong>, 24, was driven by a female acquaintance to meet <strong>Jacob Nelson,<\/strong> 25, at 9410 North 13th Street.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have not disclosed what the confrontation was about that led to one man fatally shooting the other. Police said when <strong>Grady<\/strong> arrived, he was directed to the front door of the apartment.<\/p>\n<p>A witness told police <strong>Nelson<\/strong> armed himself with a handgun and was upset prior to <strong>Grady\u2019s<\/strong> arrival. When <strong>Grady<\/strong> stepped inside the apartment, <strong>Nelson<\/strong> allegedly shot <strong>Grady<\/strong> once in the chest. <strong>Grady<\/strong> ran and collapsed a short distance away. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nelson<\/strong> fled the scene, but turned himself in Thursday, February 23rd.<\/p>\n<p>A witness identified <strong>Nelson<\/strong> as the person who shot <strong>Grady<\/strong>. He was charged with second-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a handgun.<\/p>\n<p>Although arrest records indicate that<strong> Nelson<\/strong> and <strong>Grady<\/strong> both spent time at the Brevard Correctional Institute, they were not at the institution at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives said they cannot release the name of the woman who drove <strong>Grady<\/strong> to the apartment because she is a witness, and they haven\u2019t released information on what the dispute was about between the two men.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tampa Police report that on Wednesday, February 22nd between 4:45 p. m. and 5:19 p. m., Derrick Grady, Jr., 24, was driven by a female acquaintance to meet Jacob Nelson, 25, at 9410 North 13th Street.
