{"id":12590,"date":"2012-02-02T15:19:57","date_gmt":"2012-02-02T20:19:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=12590"},"modified":"2012-02-02T15:19:57","modified_gmt":"2012-02-02T20:19:57","slug":"don-cornelius-found-dead-apparent-suicide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=12590","title":{"rendered":"Don Cornelius Found Dead &#8212; Apparent Suicide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Don Cornelius<\/strong> &#8212; who famously created <em>&#8220;Soul Train&#8221;<\/em> was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, CA, Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Police discovered the body around 4 a.m.\u00a0 <strong>Cornelius<\/strong> died from a gunshot wound to the head and officials believe the wound was self-inflicted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cornelius<\/strong> was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Soul Train<\/em>&#8221; changed the landscape of television when it debuted in 1971 and ran until 2006.<strong> Cornelius<\/strong> was 75.<\/p>\n<p>Cornelius was arrested in 2008 for beating up his wife.\u00a0 He pled no contest to misdemeanor domestic violence and was placed on 3 years probation.\u00a0 His probation just terminated. During <strong>Don&#8217;s<\/strong> bitter divorce proceedings in 2009, he told an L.A. judge he was suffering from &#8220;significant health issues&#8221; and wanted to &#8220;finalize the divorce before I die.&#8221; The divorce was granted in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Sources say the TV icon was plagued with health issues for years &#8230; including a stroke and a condition that required brain surgery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Don Cornelius &#8212; who famously created &#8220;Soul Train&#8221; was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, CA, Thursday morning.
