HOLTON<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Sentinel City Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a young child in elementary school, one Tampa native knew that he wanted to be a newscaster. <strong>Brent Solomon<\/strong> pursued his dream and made it a reality.<\/p>\n<p>However<strong>, Solomon<\/strong> said people would often ask when he would work in the local market. For those inquisitive minds, <strong>Solomon<\/strong> now has the answer. He will become a temporary anchor for WFTS-TV\/ABC Action News next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this business, you\u2019re required to move a lot, but you know that going in. It is a pleasure returning to my hometown and working with a station I grew up watching as a child,\u201d <strong>Solomon<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p>While others may shy away from public speaking, <strong>Solomon<\/strong> does not have that problem. He enjoys the exposure the field brings.<\/p>\n<p>A Tampa native, attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. When the new Blake High School opened, he enrolled and during his junior year, began writing the school column for the <strong><em>Florida Sentinel Bulletin<\/em><\/strong>. The young man graduated in 1999, having the distinction of being one of the \u201cnew\u201d Blake High School graduates.<\/p>\n<p>After graduation, he enrolled at the University of Florida, where he earned his degree in journalism. He landed his first job at\u00a0 a Savannah, Georgia television station, where he remained for two years.<\/p>\n<p>Since that time, <strong>Solomon<\/strong> has worked in markets in Albany, Georgia, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Miami.<\/p>\n<p>He said this position is that of temporary anchor for WFTS-TV\/ABC Action News. He will begin in February.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solomon<\/strong>, 30, is a member of the College Hill Church of God in Christ and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is the son of <strong>Mrs. Tempress Solomon<\/strong>, and the late <strong>Clarence Solomon<\/strong>, and has a younger brother,<strong> Trevor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>CORRECTION<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>In an article printed in Tuesday\u2019s Sentinel, it incorrectly stated that Brent Solomon was hired as an anchor for a local news station.
