{"id":12049,"date":"2011-12-22T18:14:24","date_gmt":"2011-12-22T23:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=12049"},"modified":"2011-12-22T18:14:24","modified_gmt":"2011-12-22T23:14:24","slug":"floyd-mayweather-sentenced-to-90-days-in-jail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=12049","title":{"rendered":"Floyd Mayweather Sentenced To  90 Days In Jail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAS VEGAS \u2014 Boxing champion <strong>Floyd Mayweather Jr.<\/strong> is a perfect 42-0 in the ring and has dodged significant jail time several times in domestic violence cases in Las Vegas and Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>But his courtroom streak came to an end Wednesday when a Las Vegas judge sentenced him to 90 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a reduced battery domestic violence charge and no contest to two harassment charges.<\/p>\n<p>The case stemmed from a hair-pulling, punching and arm-twisting argument with his ex-girlfriend <strong>Josie Harris<\/strong> while two of their children watched in September 2010.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Floyd Mayweather Jr.<\/strong> will likely turn 35 behind bars. He\u2019ll have time to think about his future and whether it will ever include a fight with <strong>Manny Pacquiao<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPunishment is appropriate,\u201d Justice of the Peace <strong>Melissa Saragosa<\/strong> said after a prosecutor complained that <strong>Mayweather<\/strong> has been in trouble before and hasn\u2019t faced serious consequences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo matter who you are, you have consequences to your actions when they escalate to this level of violence,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Good behavior could knock several weeks off <strong>Mayweather\u2019s<\/strong> sentence, but he will likely serve most of the sentence set to begin Jan. 6, said <strong>Officer Bill Cassell<\/strong>, a Las Vegas police spokesman.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayweather<\/strong> and his manager, <strong>Leonard Ellerbe<\/strong>, declined comment outside the courtroom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAS VEGAS \u2014 Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a perfect 42-0 in the ring and has dodged significant jail time several times in domestic violence cases in Las Vegas and Michigan.
