{"id":11387,"date":"2011-11-14T15:42:39","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T20:42:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=11387"},"modified":"2011-11-14T15:42:39","modified_gmt":"2011-11-14T20:42:39","slug":"kidnapped-baseball-player-thankful-to-be-alive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=11387","title":{"rendered":"Kidnapped Baseball Player Thankful  To Be Alive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VALENCIA, Venezuela &#8211; His eyes tearing up with emotion, Washington Nationals catcher <strong>Wilson Ramos<\/strong> embraced his rescuers Saturday and said he had wondered whether he would survive a two-day kidnapping ordeal that ended when commandos swept into his captors\u2019 mountain hideout.<strong> Ramos<\/strong> said that he was thankful to be alive.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities were still searching for at least four Colombian men who escaped during the rescue, <strong>Tareck El Aissami<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ramos<\/strong>, 24, was seized at gunpoint outside his family\u2019s home Wednesday night and whisked away in an SUV. It was the first known kidnapping of a Major League Baseball player in Venezuela. <strong>El Aissami<\/strong> said investigators\u2019 first break in the case came when they found the kidnappers\u2019 stolen SUV.<\/p>\n<p>Once investigators thought they had found the general area where Ramos might be,<strong> President Hugo Chavez<\/strong> personally authorized an aerial search mission and teams also set out on foot in the mountainous area,<strong> El Aissami<\/strong> said.
