HOLTON<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Sentinel City Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If not for the actions of a Good Samaritan, the fate of a young child could have had a tragic ending. On Monday, a 5-year-old walked off the campus of a Hillsborough County Public School undetected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Marsenia Oliver<\/strong> said her son, <strong>Lance Mitchell<\/strong>, is in the Pre-Kindergarten Therapeutic Class at Shaw Elementary School, located on N. 15th Street, near Fowler Avenue. She had taken him to school on Monday and then began keeping appointments she had made.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Oliver<\/strong> said, \u201cI was angry because nobody called me when they realized he was missing. They had no clue as to where he was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She further stated that she never received a telephone call from school officials. \u201cThe person who did contact me was the teacher and not a school official. And, she called me from her personal cell phone. She didn\u2019t even call from the office,\u201d <strong>Ms. Oliver<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p>She said that by the time she was contacted, her son had been located and returned to school.<\/p>\n<p>A Good Samaritan observed him at the intersection of N. 15th Street and E. Fowler Avenue, apparently trying to cross the street and dialed 9-1-1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Andrea Davis<\/strong>, spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said the officer was able to determine where <strong>Lance<\/strong> lived during the conversation and took him to his residence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the officer was knocking on the door, he heard the description of a missing child from Shaw Elementary School and determined that he had located the child. This all happened in about 10 minutes,\u201d <strong>Ms. Davis<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BY IRIS B.
