HOLTON<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Sentinel City Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Paulette Walker<\/strong> moved to Tampa 22 years ago and mad a life for herself and her family. Recently, she retired from the University of South Florida. She describes those 20 years as being \u201cAll in all, a good journey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In February 1990, <strong>Mr.<\/strong> and <strong>Mrs. James (Dr. Paulette) Walker<\/strong> moved to Tampa from their native home of Detroit, Michigan. They planned to raise their two sons in the city.<\/p>\n<p>A former classroom teacher,<strong> Dr. Walker<\/strong> began working on a part-time basis with the University of South Florida in August 1990. A year later, she was hired as a full time employee.<\/p>\n<p>Three years after arriving here, <strong>Dr. Walker\u2019s<\/strong> husband died, and she suddenly found herself hundreds of miles away from family. However, she had developed a strong support system in Tampa and had no desire to move back to Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>Now that her time is her own, she plans to spend more time with her family. She is the mother of two adult sons. She is grandmother to five granddaughters and three grandsons.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Walker<\/strong> is the only child of the Mrs. Helen Felton and the late Otis Felton. <strong>Dr. Walker<\/strong>, 63, is a member of Mount Olive A. M. E. Church, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and several professional, civic, and social organizations.
