HOLTON<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Sentinel City Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Children playing in North Boulevard Homes could have had even more devastating results on Monday after a gunman fired several shots at another individual. As it turned out, one child was hospitalized after a bullet struck her in the leg.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Lashaun Kinlock<\/strong> said at first, she thought someone was shooting off firecrackers in the neighborhood outside her apartment. Then she heard was her 3-year-old daughter crying and knew that something was wrong.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Kinlock<\/strong> said her toddler, <strong>Latavia Ash<\/strong>, was on the porch at her North Boulevard Homes apartment when she heard the shots and her daughter scream. A man was being chased and was trying to get into another apartment.<\/p>\n<p>A bullet struck her daughter, <strong>Latavia Ash<\/strong>, in the back of the thigh in her right leg and traveled through the joint in her knee. \u201cThe doctor said her joint will bother her the rest of her life,\u201d <strong>Ms. Kinlock<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n<p>She stated that <strong>Latavia<\/strong> was taken into surgery and the operation lasted about an hour.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10290\" style=\"width: 157px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Jerome-Parks.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10290\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10290 \" src=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Jerome-Parks.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"147\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-10290\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jerome Parks<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The man, identified as<strong> Jerome Parks,<\/strong> 21, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital, where they were treated for their injuries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Kinlock<\/strong> said she has been a resident of North Boulevard Homes for two years and this is the first time something like this has happened.<\/p>\n<p>Tampa Police said the shooting took place around 4 p.m., in the 1500 block of West Main Street. A vehicle pulled into the complex parking lot and a man exited. He reportedly began shooting at <strong>Parks<\/strong>. <strong>Parks<\/strong> ran into his apartment injured as the suspect continued to shoot at him.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect fled the scene in a 1990s model burgundy colored Buick LeSabre with tinted windows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Lillian Stringer<\/strong>, spokesperson for the Tampa Housing Authority said <strong>Parks<\/strong> ran into the Resource Office, jumped the counter, and collapsed in front of the Compliance Office after being shot. Employees called an ambulance for him.<\/p>\n<p>She stated that his mother lives in the complex, but he is not on the lease and considered an illegal boarder. \u201cHis mother will be issued a 30-day notice because he wasn\u2019t on her lease. The family moved into the apartment in March and the mother has already received 6 or 7 lease violations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an isolated incident. We have worked hard to make North Boulevard Homes a safe environment and we want to keep it this way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She further stated that the Tampa Housing Authority will assist <strong>Ms. Kinlock<\/strong> in relocating for safety reasons because the second suspect has not been arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10291\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Robert-Fletcher.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10291\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-10291\" src=\"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Robert-Fletcher-150x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-10291\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Robert Fletcher<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Information gathered during the investigation led police to issue warrants for 28-year-old<strong> Mario Maurice Williams<\/strong> and 21-year-old <strong>Robert Lee Fletcher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, a tip led police to the Extended Stay, 1805 North Westshore Blvd. The Tampa Police Department\u2019s Fugitive Apprehension Team, along with the U. S. Marshals, located <strong>Williams<\/strong> in Room 205 of the motel. <strong>Williams<\/strong> was arrested and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he is being held without bond.<\/p>\n<p>He was charged with possession of cannabis; two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon; and attempted second-degree murder. <strong>Williams<\/strong> was also charged with violation of probation on a 2008 charge of escape from law enforcement custody.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday afternoon, police locked down Jefferson High School after a man matching the description of <strong>Robert Fletcher<\/strong> was seen by an officer. Police searched the area, but were unable to locate the man.<\/p>\n<p>Police are asking anyone with information pertaining to the whereabouts of <strong>Fletcher<\/strong>, who is the alleged shooter, call (813) 231-6130.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BY IRIS B.
