Superior court spokeswoman <strong>Patricia Kelly<\/strong> said that <strong>Artest\u2019s<\/strong> new last name will be <strong>World Peace<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>His publicist, <strong>Courtney Barnes<\/strong>, said the player chose <strong>Metta<\/strong> because it is a traditional Buddhist word that means loving and kindness toward all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChanging my name was meant to inspire and bring youth together all around the world,\u201d <strong>World Peace<\/strong> said in a statement released after the hearing. \u201cAfter this short delay, my tickets have been paid and I\u2019m glad that it is now official.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He requested the change in June, citing only personal reasons.
